The Space
A flexible community venue
The Active Communities Hub (ACH) is a flexible community venue located inside Centrale Shopping Centre in Croydon.
The space is designed to support a wide range of activities, from workshops and meetings to wellbeing sessions and community programmes.
ACH is a shared venue, used by a number of organisations throughout the week. The layout allows the space to be configured for different types of activity, while maintaining a welcoming and practical environment for community use.
The Main Space
The Main Space is the largest and most frequently used part of the Hub.
It is suitable for a wide range of activities including:
• workshops and training sessions
• community meetings
• classes and short courses
• wellbeing activities
• youth programmes
• support groups and drop-ins
The room can be arranged in different ways depending on the activity, with tables and chairs available for flexible layouts.
After sessions, the space is typically reset so that it remains ready for the next group using the venue. ACH User Guide v1.0
The Living Room
At the back of the Hub is a smaller space often referred to as the Living Room.
This room provides a more relaxed environment that works well for:
• smaller group meetings
• informal discussions
• mentoring or support sessions
• small workshops
The Living Room includes sofas and seating that create a comfortable setting for quieter or more conversational activities.
Facilities
Groups using the Hub have access to a range of practical facilities, including:
• flexible tables and chairs
• whiteboard for teaching or presentations
• kitchen area for preparing drinks and refreshments
• toilets
• limited storage options for regular users
The venue is designed to be simple, practical, and adaptable so that different organisations can use it effectively.
A shared community space
The Active Communities Hub is used by multiple organisations throughout the week.
To help the venue work well for everyone, groups are asked to leave the space clean and ready for the next session and to use the venue within their confirmed booking times.
This shared approach helps the Hub remain a welcoming and well-managed resource for the wider community.
